How To Ensure Your First Cruise Goes Swimmingly

    By RomanticHeart | August 13, 2010

Actually getting round to that long awaited holiday is getting harder each year. Between natural disasters, terror threats and strikes, the stress of just getting on a plane can warrant a holiday in itself. If you find yourself fortunate enough to have the one week a year we have nice weather off, you could always dig the old tents out!.

The only other way to leave our island and enjoy some nice weather is by boat, have you considered a cruise?. Anyone regardless of budget and holiday taste can enjoy a cruise these days with the selection on offer. Whether you’re after the luxury of Silversea cruises or the opulence of the Oceania cruises or simply a few days peace and quiet, a cruise could be just what you’re after

If you’ve decided to take the plunge and you’re about to book your first cruise here’s a few things to think about first. Setting a budget is a sensible idea so long as it’s a sensible budget. You can cut costs by sourcing and booking everything yourself but if you can afford it book through a cruise travel specialist. You’ll be able to source expert advice off them too as to which cruise operator will best suit your idea of a holiday. They’re also likely to be able to offer you some last minute discount five star cruises too. Always remember they’re probably on commission so always double check their advice with a good old Google. You can also use the internet to check what other people have to say about where you’re planning on going and who you’re planning on going with. As with airlines, it’s common for most cruise providers to require you to print your own tickets and paper work at home. Always print your tickets off in plenty of time and leave them somewhere safe so they’re one less thing you’ve got to worry about on the day. Organising your cruise through a travel agent also means that as part of the package if anything goes wrong if you’re flying to the port, they’ll be help on hand to make sure you get to the ship. If the plane is delayed the liner will probably wait for you or help get you to the next port if a good proportion of their passenger list is also on the plane with you.

A well planned cruise can offer the holiday of a lifetime with experiences you’ll never forget. Unless you’re docked you’re going to be stuck with the other people around you. Always try to extend the common courtesy you’d like to receive in return and make sure you have a great holiday.
