You Can Help Make A Difference In The World

    By RomanticHeart | May 23, 2010

Would you ever consider doing some volunteering abroad? Maybe volunteering in Malawi takes your fancy. If you volunteer in Africa today you are heading for one of the greatest experiences of your life. With over a billion people on the African continent and half of them reported to be over the poverty line it’s not surprising that they need your help.

Africa is currently not only the poorest continent but also the second largest in the world. There are 54 countries in Africa with Sudan being the largest. Many of these regions are hostile and remote including most of the Sahara Desert. There are many areas within Central Africa which are so remote they have never even been visited. With figures like these there is no surprise the continent is in need of help. The African continent is poor for a number of reasons. The climate is somewhat harsh with constant droughts and floods ravaging nations. To add to the mess when countries in Africa receive aid from abroad most of the time is goes to corrupt governments. There needs to be rapid change in a number of areas to solve these problems.

Volunteering is not obviously going to be able to stop the global warming problem. It does however help with the recovery from disasters such as droughts, floods and war. There are many ongoing projects in Africa volunteers get involved with including working with HIV/AIDS orphans, Teaching displaced children, feeding programmes and aid relief.

Volunteering is a once in a lifetime opportunity and has benefited so many people. Not only the locals benefit but the volunteers taking into account the inspiration, gratification and joy they receive from helping people who are truly in need. Be apart of something special today and volunteer your services in Africa. It is truly life changing.
