    Vacations To Sydney Guide

    By RomanticHeart | March 7, 2010

Before planning vacations to Sydney, visitors must first check out the different districts that this Australian metropolis has to offer. As the largest city in all of Australia spanning over 7,546 miles, the best vacation rentals are set up in the heart of all the entertainment. Most people want to stay within one of the central Sydney districts, like the Central Business District (CBD), The Rocks, Circular Quay, City Center, Central Station, Chinatown, Darling Harbor, Kings Cross, Darlinghurst or Paddington. However, destinations like Bondi Beach, Manly, the Sydney Olympic Park and Parramatta are popular destinations located 10-30 minutes outside the city too.

When business travelers go to Sydney, they find themselves right in the heart of the Central Business District (CBD). Shoppers make a beeline for the Queen Victoria Building, the pedestrian mall on Pitt Street, upscale luxury boutiques on Castlereagh Street and Crown Street or alternative shops on Newtown Street or Enmore Street. If you’re staying in CBD Sydney accommodations, then you’ll be just steps away from the Museum of Sydney, the Theatre Royal, the City Recital Hall, the Sydney Opera House, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Australian Museum, the Powerhouse Museum and the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Festivals like the Sydney Festival in January and the Sydney Film Festival in June are also popular reasons to visit the CBD. Many visitors stay at the Swissotel, the Westin, Grace Hotel or the Saville 2 Bond Street Apartments.

The Rocks historic district is another popular place to stay on vacations to Sydney. Popular sights include the unmistakable landmark Sydney Harbor Bridge, colonial Cadman’s Cottage, the Sydney Observatory (Australia’s oldest), the Susannah Place Museum (a recreation of mid-1840s life), the Wharf Theatre, the Sydney Theatre and the Hero of Waterloo pub. Sydney apartment rentals (also called “terraces”) include The Russell and the Rockfort hotels, which are popular here. The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel features homemade beer from a historic sandstone pub, while the Observatory Hotel features pampering at their day spa.

Darlinghurst and Paddington are popular destinations for vacations to Sydney. This area is packed with chic boutique hotels and a plethora of shops, eateries and bars. Gay visitors frequent the Kirketon Hotel, which is close to Oxford Street nightlife. Morgans is a popular place for a cheap room or a delicious meal. At the end of Oxford Street, Hughenden is a unique Sydney vacation rental renovated from a terrace. Park Lodge Hotel is another terrace with a friendly staff, beautiful gardens and inexpensive accommodations. As you can see, there are numerous options for a Sydney vacation.
